Programming is, in simple words, making computers do what we want them to.

While we humans speak in many different languages, there is only one language for computers. It is comprised of ones (1) and zero's (0). This is called the binary language. Obviously, trying to make computers do what we want them to in a language of nothing but ones and zeros is practically impossible. So, the industry developed programming languages. Programming languages are human readable and understandable. After we design the program to make the computer do what we want to do, it must get converted into the computer's binary language by a process called compiling. Once it is compiled, the computer will now do what we want it to! Some examples of programming languages are Java, Visual Basic, C, Pascal, Cobol and many others.
